IPL 2021: Who won the match between SRH vs RCB?

IPL 2021, Match 6, SRH vs. RCB, was played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. SRH won the toss and opted to bowl on a sluggish pitch. RCB posted a decent total of 149/8 thanks to Glenn Maxwell’s half-century and skipper Virat Kohli’s 33 in 29 balls. At the mid-match, experts predicted a tough chase as the pitch offered turn and variable bounce. In reply, SRH was well on course for chasing this total. But they somehow lost the plot through irresponsible shots and some clever bowling by the RCB bowlers. Eventually, SRH fell short by 6 runs giving RCB their second win of the tournament.

RCB Innings

After being put in to bat by SRH, RCB lost an early wicket after Devdutt Padikkal pulled one straight to Nadeem on a Bhuvaneshwar Kumar delivery. However, Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell steadied the ship and kept the scoreboard ticking. Kohli eventually got out to Jason Holder, caught brilliantly by Vijay Shankar for a valuable 33 runs. Glenn Maxwell played beautifully on a tricky pitch and scored his first half-century after a long time in the IPL. He scored 59 from 41 balls and got out on the final delivery of the innings. RCB set a target of 150 runs in front of SRH, which was a difficult chase on this tough pitch. Jason Holder was the pick of bowlers with 3/30.

SRH Innings 

Chasing a target of 150 runs in 20 overs, SRH lost Saha early on after he hit a Siraj delivery directly into the safe hands of Maxwell. Then, David Warner and Manish Pandey knit an excellent partnership of 83 runs putting SRH in the driver’s seat. But, immediately after David Warner got out for 54 runs, the flood gates opened. SRH lost wickets in a heap. Bairstow, Pandey, Samad, and Holder got out within 15runs, which allowed RCB to make a strong comeback. The chief destroyer at this stage was RCB’s left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed who picked up 3/7 in 2 overs. Rashid Khan played a crucial cameo of 17 runs from 9 balls, but could not get SRH over the finishing line. Finally, RCB won the match by six runs and is looking well set to be considered one of the favorites to lift the IPL trophy this season.

IPL 2021, Match 6, SRH vs. RCB, was a thrilling match where both teams had a chance of winning. But RCB was the better team on the day. SRH restricted RCB to 149/8 and was well placed till the 13th over. But, they panicked and lost wickets at crucial times, derailing the chase altogether. In the end, RCB held their nerve, and beat SRH by 6 runs to gain 2 valuable points.
