IPL 2021, Match 2, DC vs. CSK, was played at Wankhede, Mumbai. Rishabh Pant won the toss and asked CSK to bat first. CSK lost their openers early but still managed to post a decent total of 188/7 through middle and lower order cameos. In response, DC chased the target quickly in 18.4 overs as openers Dhawan and Shaw put on a brilliant show, hitting boundaries all around the ground. DC’s campaign is underway with a win, and it looks like a team on a mission to lift the trophy this season.
Invited to bat first on a decent strip, CSK was off to a bad start as both Gaikwad and DuPlessis were dismissed early for 5 and 0 respectively. But Moeen Ali and Suresh Raina took control and had a 50- run partnership, laying the foundation for a big total. R Ashwin dismissed Moeen Ali for 36 runs, but he had already done his job as a pinch hitter. Ambati Rayudu also played an excellent cameo inning of 23 runs of just 16 balls.
Suresh Raina played beautifully and made a valuable half-century on his return to CSK after a hiatus. Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja hit some lusty blows towards the end and propelled the score to 188/7, which looked above par and defendable. Chris Woakes and Avesh Khan bowled brilliantly and grabbed 2 wickets, each giving away only a few runs. However, the remaining bowlers proved to be very expensive. As a result, DC had to chase 189 runs in 20 overs to win their first match.

At the other end, Dhawan was matching shot for shot, and scoring at a quick rate too. DC was 138 for no loss and was well on their way, easily chasing the target. Bravo got CSK their first breakthrough as Shaw got caught in the deep by Moeen Ali.
Dhawan played a match-winning inning of 85 from 54 balls before being dismissed by Thakur. Rishabh Pant completed the formalities and got DC to a comprehensive win in 18.4 overs. Finally, in Match 2, held at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai saw DC chasing down 188/7 without breaking into a sweat, thanks to their openers Dhawan and Shaw’s counterattack in the first ten overs. CSK bowlers didn’t know how to get these batsmen out, and none of MSD’s tactics worked as the pitch offered no swing or spin. DC was playing with a new skipper, Rishabh Pant, who transformed into captaincy very smoothly. DC took a lot of confidence from this victory into the following matches, which helped them gain a healthy momentum.
