Everything You Need To Know About Netherlands Squad for T20 World Cup 2021
The national cricket team of the Netherlands has always been regarded as a highly unpredictable side whenever they step onto a cricket field. There are several reasons for this – for starters, they have formidable skills but at the same time, they have limited experience, especially when it comes to playing on international cricket grounds.
The national cricket team of the Netherlands is participating for the fourth time in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. They participated in the T20 World Cup of 2009 and it was their first participation. The following events that took place in 2010 and 2012 were a bit unlucky for the cricket team of the Netherlands as they failed to qualify for the event.
The final squad that the selection committee of the Netherlands chose to represent the nation in the upcoming cricket event consists of both young as well as experienced players. In this context, it is also best to keep in mind that the majority of the squad is inexperienced.
They would need to ensure that their bowling attack is on par with their competitors if they wish to have a fighting chance of winning the cup.
With that stated, the final squad looks like this –
- Pieter Seelaar is the captain. He is an all-rounder.
- Colin Ackermann is the vice-captain and he is a batting all-rounder.
- Philippe Boissevain is a bowler.
- Ben Cooper is a middle-order batter.
- Bas de Leede is a batter.
- Scott Edwards is a wicket-keeper.
- Brandon Glover is a bowler.
- Fred Klaassen is a bowler.
- Stephan Myburgh is an opening batter.
- Max O’Dowd is an opening batter.
- Ryan ten Doeschate is an all-rounder.
- Logan van Beek is a bowler.
- Timm van der Gugten is a bowler.

These matches will take place on the 18th, 20th, and 22nd of October, 2021. The venues for the matches are Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi for the first two matches. The last match will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
The match timings are as follows –

Can They Win?
As mentioned earlier, the Netherlands squad that is selected for the T20 World Cup 2021 lacks quality pace bowlers. The reason is simple – the majority of the players in the squad are young and they do not have the necessary experience. Hence, they would need to improve their game plan and practice a lot to give themselves a fighting chance to win the event. Now coming back to predicting the outcome of the event – there’s none! It is a next-to-impossible feat as cricket is an impressive sport that never ceases to amaze its fans with unpredictable outcomes!
