The T20 World Cup was scheduled to commence in 2020. However, the event was suspended as the COVID-19 pandemic struck. India was slated to host the event, but the COVID-19 situation called for a reconsideration of the venues. Finally, there will be four venues in the UAE and OMAN – Muscat, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. BCCI, however, will still hold the hosting rights for the event. The UAE has hosted significant events during the pandemic era, so it was the safest place to host the World Cup event.

We have eight teams competing for a place in the Super 12 ICC T20 World Cup 2021 Points Table. Group A has Sri Lanka, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Namibia. Group B has Bangladesh, Scotland, Papua New Guinea, and Oman. The table-toppers of Group A will be joining Group 1, and the table-toppers of Group B will be joining Group 2.
Out of these teams, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh could be the obvious ones to qualify. There might be a toss-up between Ireland and Netherlands as Ryan Ten Doeschate of the Netherlands returns, strengthening their side. And in Group B, we can see a new team rising. Scotland could prove to be the surprise element in Group B.
The defending champions, West Indies, will surely be the favorites alongside England or Australia in Group 1. In Group 2, the Indian team alongside New Zealand would be favorites. Pakistan is also one of the special teams in Group 2, but competition against teams like India and New Zealand will be challenging. Since this is the last T20 World Cup for Virat Kohli as captain, he would indeed be looking to end it with a trophy. With a mentor like MS Dhoni by their side, the confidence of the Indian team should be on top of the world.
