For IPL 2021 Phase II, The Rajasthan Royals have replaced Jos Buttler with the batsman-wicket keeper from New Zealand, Glenn Phillips. Buttler will no longer be a part of Rajasthan Royals Team 2021 because of the impending birth of his child.
At present, Phillips is with the Barbados Royals in Hero CPL that takes place in the West Indies. He is about to join the Royals as per the IPL Schedule in the UAE on 19th September.
Phillips has played twenty-five T20I matches for his country, apart from being a star player in Hero CPL. This new member of Rajasthan Royals Team 2021 also had stints in the Hundred and Vitality Blast of England. He also set a record last November with his 46-ball century against West Indies at Mount Maunganui. He broke Colin Munro’s record for scoring the fastest hundred by a batsman from New Zealand in T20Is. Along with that, he scored three more centuries in T20Is – one for the Jamaica Tallawahs and the rest for Auckland.
He has all the elements to make this IPL Schedule interesting, with 506 T20Is runs and an impressive strike rate of 149.70.
The absence of Buttler means that Rajasthan Royals will have none of their star players from England. Jofra Archer’s injury has ruled him out of the game for the entire year. Ben Stokes is taking a break due to mental health issues. Royals have enough reasons to miss Buttler in their IPL Schedule, with his smashing strike rate of 153.01. Here’s hoping that Glenn Phillips turns out to be a suitable replacement for Buttler.
The Royals are at the fifth position at the points table, and their next match is on September 21 with the Punjab Kings.
