ECB To Give Permission To English Players To Participate In The 2021 IPL

The IPL 2021 second phase will begin soon, and the ECB is all set to permit the English cricketers to play in the league. So, fans are likely to see players like Eoin Morgan and Sam Curran play for their respective teams within the T20 league. But there is also the news that they will be missing out on the latter stages of the tournament due to the clash against Pakistan. England will be playing two T20s against Pakistan, which will, in return, give a boost to their preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup. 

What Does ECB Have To Say?

England will lock horns with Pakistan for the sport’s shortest format, which is scheduled for 13th October and 14th October 2021. This indicates that the English players will not get the chance to participate in the playoffs as the IPL dates and Pakistan tour dates clash with each other. But since the series against Bangladesh has been postponed, Eoin Morgan and various other English cricketers are gearing up to play in the cash-rich tournament. 

Few Words From ECB’s Chief Executive  

ECB’s Tom Harrison, the chief executive of the board, shared his thoughts on the IPL 2021 Schedule and allowing the English players to play in the league. He said: 

“For participating within the IPL, we will take some time and discuss the matter with the players. Since the Bangladesh series has been postponed, there is a high chance that the English cricketers can participate in the league. 

But on the other hand, we also wish to go to Pakistan for the two T20 games, which will help the players strengthen all the areas they are lacking. This will allow them to play brilliantly in the upcoming T20 World Cup”.
