Know Who Won Astana Open, Kazakhstan 2021

The Astana Open ATP 250 series was scheduled to be held in Nur-Sultan at the National Tennis Centre (NTC), Kazakhstan. The tennis tournament was recorded from the 20th to 26th of September. The tournament amassed the best-skilled players and newcomers who were present in the tournament to show off their skills. The ATP tour takes place in 30 countries and in total, administers 64 games. The number of draws in the ATP tour consists of 16 for doubles and varies in 28, 32, or 48 for singles. 

The tournament played indoors on hard courts was the 2nd edition for men, and was the first for women tennis professionals. Total prize money of $541,800 was bestowed on the winners. The conduct of the tournament brought about some very integral differences. The defending champions hustled for their titles while the newcomers gave it their best to grab the Astana Open title.

Men’s Singles Winner

A total of 15 players signed in for the singles. The defending champions from last year also participated in the same. John Millman, the winner of the last Astana Open, and the runner-up Adrien Mannarino were there. John Millman lost to James Duckworth in the semifinals. James Duckworth however, lost in the final to Kwon soon-woo. Kwon won the ATP Tour title and became the first South Korean to win the ATP in 18 years. 

The Korean player won 69 points in total while the Australian defending player could only win 63 points. Below is the table with the information on the games won by each player, and the scores earned by each of them.

Men’s Doubles Winner

A total of 5 pairs participated in the Men’s doubles. The finals of the Astana Open were held on the 26th of September. The defending champions of the Men’s doubles were Sander Gillé and Joran Vliegen, who decided not to defend their title. 

The Men’s doubles finals were fought between two mixed teams. Mexican player Santiago González and Andrés Molteni from Argentina were on the same team. On the other side were Jonathan Erlich from Israel and Andrei Vasilevski from Russia. The team of Mexican Santiago and Argentine Andrés were the winners.
