It is a new year and a new hope for the Kolkata Knight Riders’ fans. It has been seven years since they kissed the trophy, and since then, the performance has been linear. Though they were victorious in 2012 and 2014, their performance is nothing to write home about in the last few years. Last year also did not start well for them. With sudden mid-tournament alterations and disheartening goodbyes, the team had to start fresh in the middle of the series. But this year, the Knights are back in their warrior spirit, and we are sure to get some outstanding performances.
But before the big festival of T-20 cricket comes the auction. Last year KKR had the highest bid of 15.5cr for an overseas player – Pat Cummins. This year KKR has made well-thought out changes to the team. The decision-makers have spent a fortune to hold back long-time team members and add new promising members who are expected to establish themselves as cricketing superstars.
The planning and bidding has helped the team retain and introduce cricketers of different capabilities to make a more robust Kolkata Knight Riders team.
