Career Information

Eoin Morgan schooled in Catholic University School, where he took part in three Leinster Senior Schools Cup Champions teams. While playing in the Under 17 and Under 19, Eoin was the leading player in the young Irish teams. He even represented the Irish in the U0-19 and became the top score player of his team. Two years later, he was announced the Captain of the U-19 team.

Test Debut:

Eoin Morgan made his Test debut on May 27, 2010, against Bangladesh at Lord’s. he scored 44 runs for the first inning, but he was not needed in the second innings as England won the match by eight wickets. 

His last Test was on February 3, 2012, against Pakistan at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. In this, England lost the series, and in the second Test, Eoin was under pressure. He scored only 3 runs in the game and was later dismissed for a duck in the second innings. 

ODI Debut:

On August 05, 2006, Eoin made his ODI debut against Scotland at Cambusdoon New Ground. He scored 99 runs, falling one short of a century. Ireland beat Scotland by 85 runs. 

The last ODI by Eoin Morgan was on July 4, 2021, England against Sri Lanka, where he led his team into a win of 2-0. 

T20 Debut:

Eoin made his T20 debut on July 5, 2009, against the Netherlands at Lord’s. he played his last T20 series against Pakistan on July 20, 2021, at Manchester. Pakistan won by three 3 with 2 balls remaining. 

IPL Debut:

Eoin made his Indian Premier League debut on March 14, 2010, versus Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. KKR then purchased him in 2011, and from then, he has spent most of his IPL career in this team. However, he represented Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2015 and Kings XI Punjab in 2016. He was then repurchased by KKR 2020, and he is looking forward to continuing the second phase of IPL 2021.

  • Morgan is the first cricketer to record a first-double century for Ireland.
  • Eoin is the first batsman to be dismissed for 99 on his ODI debut.
  • He was the third-youngest ever non-sub continental player to make a century in ODI cricket. 
  • He got his most significant breakthrough in 2009 when he competed in the Championships Trophy match in South Africa. 
  • He was praised for his captaincy in 2013 after leading England to win by 5 wickets to level the series. 
  • ICC appointed Morgan as the Captain of a World XI team to play a one-off T20I fixture against West Indies in 2018.

  • He was named Captain of the year in 2019 in the Cricket World Cup. 
  • He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2020 New Year Honours for services to cricket. 


  • Morgan had to recover from a shoulder injury to participate in the series against Pakistan in UAE from January to February 2012. 
  • Morgan had to withdraw from the 2018 match against West Indies after having a broken finger. 

He sustained a brutal injury on his hand to beat India in the first ODI match in Pune. He was, however, ruled out of the series.
