The second phase of the IPL is ready to begin in the UAE from September 19. The ongoing pandemic has brought with it challenges and difficulties to the cricketers, ensuring that they are all in a bio-friendly environment.
Also, there are certainties that some players will miss the 2021 Tournament due to Covid-19 protocols. Therefore, Sehwag, the previous Indian batter, shared his thought that Wanindu Hasaranga, the leg spinner, will be on many franchise radars with missing players.
In recent years BCCI has released a new schedule for IPL 2021 with this new schedule, IPL has given players a stage to convey their freedom. Due to the platform offered, many foreign players have demonstrated their interest in joining the league. In addition, Sehwag praised Wanindu Hasananga for his India-Sri Lanka performance, reckoning that many franchises will try to rope him in for the IPL 2021.
Hasaranga, by showing his flair in the recently completed series, turned many heads. He scored 10 wickets in five matches, including the game-winning numbers of 4-9 in the T201 decider. Nehra pointed out that if franchises are looking for replacements of the spinners, Hasaranga will surely be on their lists. Therefore, Wanindu Hasaranga’s participation in 2021 IPL is almost a done deal. The only thing left is waiting to see which franchise will rope him in.
Virender Sehwag told the Cricbuzz that Wanindu delivered a superb performance showcasing his bowling skills. The 2 wickets he got in the middle of Sanju Samson and Gaikwad helped break India’s back. He noted that there were a few IPL teams looking to sign the player after that brilliant showing. He also noted, however, that since Hasaranga was still inexperienced in the IPL, he might be first signed on as a replacement. Later on, after gaining some experience, his rank might increase.
