ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 Venue Shifted to UAE & Oman

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is hosting the 7th edition of the T20 World Cup in UAE and Oman this year. The tournament is all set to run from 18 October and will feature some of the best cricketing nations in the world. The 2020 edition, which was slated to happen in Australia, was first postponed and India was selected as the venue for the 2021 edition. However, amid fears of a 3rd wave, the ICC decided to shift the venue for this year’s tournament to the UAE and Oman.

The BCCI Are Going to Remain as Tournament Hosts

The T20 World Cup venue may be UAE and Oman, but the Board of Cricket Control in India, or the BCCI, are all set to function as the tournament hosts. 4 stadiums will be used to hold the matches. These are the Dubai International Stadium, the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the Sharjah Stadium, and the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Muscat. The preliminary matches will all be conducted in the Al Amerat Stadium, or the Oman Cricket Academy Ground.

Adoption of Some Additional Venues

To ease the pressure on these 4 stadiums, the ICC is also considering some other stadiums in the UAE and Oman. For example, the T20 World Cup 2021 may also be held at the Tolerance Oval in Abu Dhabi. Once the ICC has finished judging and accreditation, this can be the venue for the group stage matches. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has said that the organization is looking forward to creating a very exciting tournament.

The ICC Men T20 World Cup is all set to begin in a few months, and a lot of exciting matches have been lined up as well. Also, India and Pakistan will face off against each other in the Super 12 stage of the tournament.
