This tournament has ignited the spirit of cricket and boosted the excitement among the cricket fans as the T20 World Cup is happening after 2016. The defending champions West Indies shockingly miss out when it comes to the 3 teams with the highest win percentage in the T20 World Cups.

Here are the top 3 teams who have grasped the highest win percentage in the T20 World Cups.

No.1 – Sri Lanka: Win Percentage of 64.28% in The T20 World Cups

Being the T20 World Cup champion in 2014, Sri Lanka has made their surprise debut into the list of teams with the highest win percentage in the upcoming ICC event. Their impressive statistics, which shows 22 victories in 35 matches played, amounts to the highest win percentage as a team for this tournament – 64.28%.

Sri Lanka has gifted their fans some stunning performances in the past, helping them reach the finals of the T20 World Cup three times – the highest of all other teams. Despite their struggle and failure to win the title in 2009 and 2012, the Lankans never stopped hustling. Finally, they bagged the T20 title in 2014 with the magnificent victory against India that was considered a send-off of sorts for the Lankan veterans Mahela Jayawardene and Kumara Sangakkara. Jayawardene is to date the leading run-scorer in the history of the ICC T20 world cup with 1016 runs. However, this time the Sri Lankan team is young and inexperienced.

Sri Lanka will face a thrilling challenge to qualify for the main stage of the T20 2021 edition. Dasun Shanka’s men have to show their utmost dedication and potential in the field to make it through the qualifiers against teams like Bangladesh, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Namibia.

No.2 – India: Win Percentage of 64.06% in the T20 World Cup

India won the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup in 2007 but the title has eluded them after that, However, India has been one of the most successful teams of this ICC event. Despite their failed attempts to grab the title ever since 2007, the team managed to reach the finals in 2014 against Sri Lanka, and the semi-finals in the last 2016 edition. In the overall T20 World Cup events, India played a total of 33 matches and won 20 out of them, with one tiebreaker and one no-result. The team is in the second position with a win percentage of 64.06%.

No.3 – South Africa: Win Percentage of 60% in T20 World Cups

South Africa has the amazing stats of winning 18 matches out of 30 matches played in the T20 world cup, leading them to the high win percentage of 60%. Despite bagging such a high win percentage compared to other teams, the Proteas have not won the title even once.

The South African team has developed an unwanted impression of ‘chokers’ in this ICC event, as the team fell collapsed in the semi-final stage twice in the 2009 and 2014 editions. South Africa has preferred to go into the T20 World Cup 2021 with a young team, possibly with an eye on the future. But what surprised many was the omission of T20 masters like Faf Du Plessis and ace spinner Imran Tahir from the squad.
