The seventh match of the Caribbean Premier League is why cricket fans love cricket. Trinbago Knight Riders vs St Lucia Kings was interesting until the final over of the subsequent innings. St Lucia Kings won against Trinbago Knight Riders with just five runs to spare. SLK had to take care of Kieron Pollard. Pollard hit the ball to Alzarri Joseph at wide long-on and was caught out.
The second and most intimidating threat was Tim Seifert. Seifert hit five fours and three sixes in the penultimate over and scored 40 runs in 16 balls. Although Seifert performed well, that wasn’t enough to win the tournament, and the St Lucia Kings grabbed the victory.
Out of 17 the matches, this is the third encounter the St Lucia Kings have won against TKR. This victory can be credited to Tim David and Rostan Chase. Rostan Chase’s bowling performance earned him the title of Man of the Match. SLK’s Chase gave just 17 runs in four overs and also took a wicket of Tion Webster in the process. Keemo Paul bowled for the Kiwi wicketkeeper, Tim Seifert. Along with Roston Chase and Keemo Paul, Wahab Riaz took a wicket too.
Lendl Simmons and Tion Webster opened for the Riders. Although there were high hopes for the openers, Simmons scored 25 runs in 30 balls while Tion scored 18 in 17 balls. Colin Munro, too, did not play well, scoring just 40 in 47 balls. They were followed by Kieron Pollard getting holed out. Then came Tim Seifert, the only batsman that played exceptionally in Trinbago Knight Riders vs St Lucia Kings.
The Kings won after Seifert couldn’t hit a six in the final ball. This loss will sting the TKR as they only lost three wickets in the match. But looking at the CPL 2021 schedule, they are hoping to play better in the oncoming matches.
