For the very first time following the onset of Covid-19, Zimbabwe will be hosting an international team. This will be after they had a match, they had played two Test matches and three T20Is against the Pakistan team. The match was held at the Harare Sports Club on 21st April. Due to strict Covid-19 regulations, the games will be played behind closed doors. The match will also mark the first international tour Zimbabwe has ever held since January 2020, during which Sri Lanka managed to play two Test matches.
The scheduled August 2020 three ODIs were canceled because Covid-19 was on the rise, and the need to safeguard the players’ safety was paramount. The countries that were to participate in the tour were Ireland, India, Afghanistan, and the Netherlands. Zimbabwe also struggled to play the Test matches after the International Cricket Council canceled it in July 2019. In October 2019, the suspension was removed, but still, they could not play many games.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has been working tirelessly to ensure that international cricket is revived in the post-Covid-19 world. Organizing the Zimbabwe tour is just one of the many steps towards achieving the objective. Pakistan’s director of international cricket said in a statement that the game of cricket and Covid-19 could coexist in a secure environment. They have tried to demonstrate the possibility of this theory, making sure that the game flourishes in such challenging times. Zimbabwe team formation 2021 for both the men and women is proof that Zimbabwe and PCB can coexist mutually and offer each other support.

The match will be a test for the squads simultaneously; it will serve as a preparation for when they will be going to Windhoek to participate in the Intercontinental Cup against Namibia.

In this year’s tour, the Test matches will be played from 29th April to 11th May, while the T20Is will be played from 21st April through to 25th April 2021.
