TNPL 2021 Returns Sans Top Stars

After a long gap due to the pandemic, the fifth edition of Tamil Nadu Premier League 2021 is back at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Eight teams from the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) and a team from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are competing for the title with the opening match of the tournament. This will be the first time that the tournament will witness a team of selected players from the BCCI, and it will be interesting to see how they stack up against the TNCA teams.

Though TNPL is a local tournament, this year, big names like Dinesh Kartik, R Ashwin, Varun Chakravarthy, T Natarajan, and Washington Sundar will be missing the league. The first match was played between Lyca Kovai Kings and Salem Spartans.

TNPL has taken cricket to a whole new level and made the game more exciting. It has opened the opportunity of making a lot of money and respect. The game has become a platform for the young stars to make their mark. With all the craze associated with IPL, TNPL teams are very much in demand, and the fans are eager to know about the players who will be a part of the teams and players who will be selected for the IPL. Listing down a few players who have performed exceptionally well in the previous tournaments of Tamil Nadu Premier League, Vijay Shankar, M Sharukh Khan, and M Ashwin will be seen in action.

The fifth edition of the TNPL 2021 is important for plenty of reasons and not just because it’s the “most lucrative” according to some. However, it’s also a crucial tournament for a handful of players who would be looking to use this grassroots sporting event as a springboard for reaching their goal – playing in the Indian men’s national cricket team. They’re surely in with a good shot if they can clutch their chances during the tournament! For more cricket updates, stay tuned.
