The 2nd match of Zimbabwe Vs Scotland of T20I was held on 17th September 2021 in Grand Range Stadium, Edinburg. Zimbabwe aced back to victory.
Zimbabwe, the winners, have raced back into the T20 series after beating Scotland by ten runs in the second match. A tight fight resulted in favour of the spectators.
Wellington Masakadza held hard to score 13 runs in the final over. Began batting, Zimbabwe scored 136 runs in 20 overs. They failed to initiate a great beginning as both the openers lost within the first overs. Madhevere moved on with his poor form as he exited without a score. Skipper Craig Ervine spearheaded along with Sean Will. Both scored 71 runs for the wicket before Ervine’s exit in the 15th over. Williams played well and tugged Zimbabwe to reach a better score. Williams remained undefeated at 60 off 52 balls as Zimbabwe gained 136 runs.
Scotland, too, failed to start well in batting. George Munsey with nine on 6, Kyle Coetzer with two on four and Ollie Hairs with 0 on 1 exited without any contribution. Scotland lost four wickets with 16 runs within five overs. Richie Berrington came to their help and gained a great 75-run for the fifth wicket with Matthew Cross. Berrington gained 42 runs off 43 balls but failed to continue further for the betterment. He had to exit the match in the 15th over. Mathew Cross followed Richie Berrington in the 18th over to favour the match for Zimbabwe.
Michael Leask retained high expectations for Scotland. He performed a great 21 ball to 25 runs and managed to continue until the last over. Masakadza was relaxed in the last over and could deliver only two runs. Scotland lost by ten runs.
Zimbabwe’s remarkable victory paved the path to their round. On Sunday, the third and final T20 international match between Scotland and Zimbabwe will be held at Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh.
