Earlier, at the start of this IPL season, RCB revealed their brand new jersey. It is not a new thing for a team to change how they present themselves on the field in terms of their apparel. Puma, their official sponsor, has signed a multi-year deal with the team. And, as their official kit partner, the RCB new jersey 2021 look sponsored by Puma could be seen on the team’s social media accounts.
The new IPL season saw RCB doing something new. We aren’t talking about their performances or players. The focus instead, is on the RCB new jersey. The boys in red chose to adorn a different color on their match against KKR on September 20, 2021, in Abu Dhabi.
RCB has always been associated with the color red since its inception. The color of the jersey isn’t just a way of separating the team from others. It brings a particular emotion and passion to the team. For instance, when you think of the color yellow, you instantly think of the Chennai Super Kings. Likewise, the color red had been the symbol of the Royal Challengers Bangalore jersey.
RCB went all blue when they played their match against KKR. No, they haven’t officially changed the color of their jersey. However, this was much more significant than simply putting on a new jersey. It was a heart-warming act by the team to honor and pay tribute to the frontline workers who have been working tirelessly during the pandemic. The blue color represents the PPE kit, and RCB chose the shade to honor the frontline workers. The jersey, which was manufactured by the team’s official sponsor, Puma, is set to be auctioned to raise money to aid the vaccination drive for COVID-19 in India. Although they didn’t win the game that day, RCB won many hearts through the meaningful gesture with the RCB new jersey.
This is not the first time that RCB has chosen to wear a different color other than their official jersey to support a cause. They had previously worn green to support the environmental cause, and this time around, they went blue to raise awareness for COVID.
The team’s Captain, Virat Kohli announced that they would also make a financial contribution by procuring 100 ventilators and 100 oxygen concentrators to donate in the team’s home ground for Bengaluru and other Indian cities. Their association with Gate India foundation will make this gesture a reality. The team’s effort to perform outside the field is a commendable act and deserves praise.
