Kolkata Knight Riders vs. Delhi Capitals: What a Rebound!

Winning 3 out of 4 matches in the UAE leg, Kolkata Knight Riders have had a significant rebound in the IPL 2021 being held in the Middle East. Despite the absence of the marquee signing Andre Russell, the team has exceeded the expectations in the Indian Premier League 2021.

In the KKR vs. DC match, the former won the toss and chose to bowl. Even with the IPL 2021 Match predictions, it wasn’t easy to gauge the game’s outcome. Although KKR has experienced a reasonably successful run in the Middle East, Delhi Capitals are still at second place on the points table. The Knights chased down the target of 127 set by the Delhi Capitals at the legendary Sharjah Cricket Stadium.  Kolkata Knight Riders managed to chase down the target in 18.2 overs, and still had three wickets to spare. Having secured the winning runs with so many balls left, KKR also boosted their NRR.

Rishabh Pant, Captain of Delhi Capitals: Although the wicket was slow, the captain had set a target to score 150-160 runs. The slow wicket resulted in the new batters gaining fewer runs than expected and a smaller target. The batting was not able to click despite having some great names. DC lost the wickets and the plot due to inconsistency in their batting. The KKR bowlers deserve all the credit.

Sunil Narine, Man of the Match: Star spinner Sunil Narine has been the showman for the Knights for many seasons. The consistent economy coupled with pulling out crucial wickets has made him indispensable to the team. Despite Sharjah being one of the hardest pitches to bowl on, the spinner managed to pick up two wickets for 18 runs in his quota of four overs. Alongside, Narine also managed to storm 21 runs off just ten balls, minimizing the threat of an already small target. He was adjudged the Man of the Match because of his contribution.

Scores: DC 127/9 (20)

KKR 130/7 (18.2)

KKR won by 3 Wickets.

What a rebound!
