The Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC) declared Upstox, one of the driving and rapidly-growing digital brokerage firms in India, as an official partner for IPL on March 16th, 2021. This will be a multi-year partnership. This season’s IPL, which is organised in India, will commence on April 9th, 2021.
Founded with the intent of streamlining financial investing and ensuring equitability and affordability to all Indian investors, Upstox provides online investments in Stocks, Digital Gold, Mutual funds, Derivatives, and ETFs for investors and traders. Upstox currently has retained over 2.8 million customers and is backed by marquee investors such as Tiger Global.
The chairman of IPL, Brijesh Patel, said, “We are pleased to have Upstox on board as an official partner of the Indian Premier League 2021. As one of the most-watched cricket leagues in India, IPL along with Upstox can create a huge impact on the audience, especially the millions of Indian youth who are financially independent and looking for more options to manage their portfolios.”
The co-founder and chief executive officer of Upstox, Ravi Kumar, commented on the partnership and said, “We are thrilled to partner with BCCI for IPL 2021. In India, Cricket is more than just a sport. It is an important part of our culture and social life, with a huge fan following, especially millennials. The IPL has paved a bold new direction to Indian cricket in the last decade, like Upstox, which is revolutionising finances in India. This is what sparks a natural connection between both brands. With this integration of sports and finance, we intend to spread financial awareness across the country.”
With the IPL being organised in India, investors and partners have high hopes for creating lasting associations and a chance to showcase their products and services. The chairman of IPL and the CEO of Upstox are optimistic about their multi-year partnership and expect an adrenaline gushing tournament to get organised in India after returning from UAE in 2020.
