Inzamam-ul-Haq: ICC Should Quash With Two-Match Test Series

While the second cycle set of the test series is almost starting, numerous savants and previous players have given ideas on the most efficient method to improve the competition. Inzamam-ul-Haq, the former Pakistan leader, is among the individuals asked to provide their opinion about the match. He addressed that the game has gone through some changes in the last few years because of the introduction of the various franchise leagues.

Being a previous cricket player, he has been made the mentor-batting consultant of Peshawar Zalmi to share his experience with the young players. Having retired, he has found T20 cricket to be new and has been forced to adapt. He says that, unlike 15 years ago, where most of the focus would be on the player’s techniques and how he did on Test cricket, these days the aim is whether the player can hit big and know how to handle any situation. For today, the most important thing is the skill set and the best level of fitness.

He further suggests that the ICC should stop the two-match Test series since he would like to see Test nations play among five Tests against each other.

“The International Cricket Council should also consider doing away with the two-match Test series. There should at least be three Test matches in a series, which is a must to save the longer format. I know time is a constraint these days, and as a result, we hardly see teams play a full-fledged five-match Test series, but being the governing body, the ICC should look into this.” He said, speaking to Sportstar.

Inzamam-ul-Haq continues to explain that during his time out of 100 Tests, only 20 would be seen as results, and the rest would be excluded. But as for now, you will find that 80-90 percent of the games’ outcomes are included. There is less possibility of games being drawn unless there is an interruption of probable rain. He says that although this is a positive sign, other aspects should be considered to ensure the continued excitement of Test cricket.

Additionally, Inzamam-ul-Haq seeks an India-Pakistan bilateral series to better the cricket world. He feels that the two countries should play against each other as previously before. Many people follow the game between India and Pakistan as they enjoyed every part of it.
