It’s time again for Indian cricket lovers to rejoice as India takes on Sri Lanka in three One-day Internationals and as many Twenty20 matches during the tour beginning on July 13 and concluding on July 25. The BCCI has also announced a 20-man squad, full of youngsters, including six uncapped players.
While India’s top cricketers were in England for the World Test Championship final, and the subsequent England series, the selection of several youngsters in the squad is done keeping in mind the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. Many of these players have proven their talent in the suspended IPL and impressed the BCCI to secure their berth in the squad for the series.
The Indian cricket team is all set to give a head start to the three-match ODI and T20 series against Sri Lanka starting from July 13. The confidence of the Indian team is at an all-time high after defeating England in their last encounter before the commencement of IPL 2021. The three-match T20 series offers a great opportunity for the Indian squad to prepare for the ICC World T20 cricket championship.
The Indian team will play in Sri Lanka after a gap of two years as the Covid19 pandemic had curtailed overseas international travel substantially last year. After the suspension of the Indian Premier League, the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India will resume international cricket with a tour of Sri Lanka 2021 for limited over matches comprising of three T20s and three ODIs.
The All-India Senior Selection Committee has finalized the Indian squad for the three-match ODI series and the three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka scheduled in July. All matches will be played at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo.

All the above players have been judiciously chosen based on their performance and endurance on the field in the last few tournaments. They are being trained to give their best under the extreme weather conditions of the island nation.

The series will kick off with three ODI matches with the first taking place on July 13 followed by the second ODI match on July 16 and the final ODI match is scheduled for June 19 for two teams. After the conclusion of the ODI series, the Indian team will play the T20 series against Lanka with the first match on July 22 while the second will be played on June 24 and the third on June 27 respectively. All the matches will be played behind the doors and fans will not be allowed inside the stadium keeping in mind the strict Covid19 safety protocols.
Sony Sports Network will provide the live telecast of the series in the Indian subcontinent on its channels Sony SIX and Sony Ten 3. Live streaming will also be available on the SonyLIV app and website. The ODI matches will start at 1 pm IST and live coverage of T20 matches will begin at 7 pm IST.
