The International Cricket Council announced some time back about the dates for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. As per official reports, the event will begin on October 17th and will end on November 14th.
There was a bit of a dilemma about the hosting country for the event though! India was first chosen as the venue for the event but the increasing numbers of COVID – 19 positive cases in India scared the event organizers. It was finally decided that the venues would be Oman and the UAE.
Let’s shift focus to Team Australia who recently announced their final squad for the T20 WC 2021.
Australian first-class players who missed all the recent tours to Bangladesh and West Indies have now been recalled to action as they found their names in the final T20 WC squad.
Here is the finalized Australian squad for the upcoming cricket event –
The Australian team is placed in the Group A of Super 12 alongside strong teams like West Indies, England, and South Africa. Cricket experts and enthusiasts are referring to this group as the ‘group of death’ due to the strong players in the squads representing the individual countries.
As per recent performances, the Australian cricket team has been going through a bit of a rough patch. For instance, Australia lost to Bangladesh, India, New Zealand, England, and West Indies in the respective T20I matches.
As per experts of the sport, the lack of preparation of Australia’s national cricket team could be the driving force behind this. In this context, it is noteworthy that the captain of the team, Aaron Finch recently stated that he is confident that his squad can bring the trophy home this year!
Well, one can only hope that the skipper’s wish comes true as the Aussies have never won the T20 World Cup. But Finch’s team will have to outperform their strong rivals in the Super 12 first to have a chance at winning the event!
