The first match-up between St Kitts & Nevis Patriots and Guyana Amazon Warriors saw the Patriots keep their unbeaten run in the 2021 CPL after winning the game by 8 wickets. Both teams came into the match with a win under their belt, but Bravo’s side got the win. Here’s how the game went.
The Guyana Amazon Warriors won the toss and elected to bat, which proved to be a bad decision as they lost 2 wickets in 19 runs. Hemraj, however, held his team down and scored 29 runs which Hafeez added to later on the innings. Mohammad put on a strong performance making 38 runs off 31 balls, while his captain gave their innings a boost smashing 23 from 10 deliveries.
The Patriots, on the other hand, made the most of Guyana’s bad form, and an opening partnership between Lewis and Devon set the game-winning tone for them. Evin Lewis forged the way making 62 from 39 balls, carting 4 fours and 5 sixes in strong innings. Thomas, on the other end making 55 out of 54 balls. The St Kitts & Nevis Patriots started off cautiously, making just 29 runs in the first 5 overs, 3 of which came from Evin, who made good use of the final over of the powerplay.
Lewis went on to sweep and ram Imran for 2 sixes consecutively, enjoying the leg spinners bowling. The two went back and forth, taking points from each other until the 14th over when Imran managed to eliminate Evin. Drakes came in and finished things off with 3 for 26 in 4 overs leaving Pooran and Hafeez as the only batters left in the game. Nicholas deposited Fawad for 3 sixes in the 14th over, getting 23 runs in before falling to Allen. Unfortunately, all their valiant efforts did nothing to derail the Patriots from winning, as they didn’t have a big lead to chase down.
