Mohammad Amir Joins Barbados Tridents

He Is Looking Forward To The New Challenge.

Former Pakistan fast bowler, Mohammad Amir, has been roped in for the Caribbean Premier League by the Barbados Tridents. Amir, who is highly profiled, will be playing in the CPL for the 2021 season, which will be played from August 25 to September 15 in St Kitts. There will be 33 matches which will be played at Warner Park. This follows on from a successful staging of CPL in Trinidad and Tobago in 2020.

Since December 2020, Mohammad Amir has not appeared in the CPL because he retired from international cricket at 28 years old. He last played professional cricket in March for Karachi Kings in the postponed Pakistan Super League 2021.

Mohammad, the left-arm pacer, has recorded terrific results in the shortest format, having pulled off 220 wickets from 190 T20s at a strike rate of 22.50 with a six-wicket haul and a couple of five-fors. 59 of the 220 wickets are from International matches. CPL mentions that Amir has a tremendous amount of experience and a track record of success across the globe.

Mohammad joins CPL, and he seems to be excited about the new challenge of signing to Barbados. The player, who stepped away from international cricket after a fall-out with Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling Coach Waqar Younis tweeted that he was looking forward to this new challenge.

Meanwhile, two more deals were finalized where former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik and Nepal off-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane bagged new contracts with Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinbago Knight Riders, respectively.

Shoaib Malik has returned to the Guyana Amazon Warriors. During 2019 when the Warriors won 11 consecutive matches, Malik was central to this success. He had played 417 T20 games and won 12 trophies.

According to the CPL, Sandeep will be joining the Knight Riders for the 2021 season. For the last Hero CPL three seasons, Sandeep has played impressing with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Barbados Tridents, and Jamaica Tallawahs. As a statement from CPL reads, the leg-spinner is now pretty regular in T20 tournaments worldwide, and he will be adding potency to the Knight Riders attack.

The CPL tournament has eight teams where some of them have announced their squads. But there are those groups that are yet to give their drafts. Previously the CPL tournament was set to start on August 28, but it was changed to begin on August 25. This is because of the continuation of the IPL, which had stopped due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

Sandeep will be playing alongside Kieron Pollard (captain), Ravi Rampal, Tion Webster, Sunil Narine, Darren Bravo, Lendl Simmons, Khary Pierre, Anderson Phillip, Denesh Ramdin, Jayden Seales, Leonardo Julian, Akeal Hosein, and Ali Khan. Oversee players include Colin Munro, Sikandar Raza, Sandeep Lamichchane, and Isuru Udana.

Barbados Tridents entire squad consist of Raymon Reifer, Chris Morris, Johnson Charles, Thissara Perera, Mohammad Amir, Jason Holder, Shai Hope, Oshane Thomas, Joshua Bishop, Kyle Mayers, Hayden Walsh Jr, Azam Khan, Justin Greaves, Ashley Nurse, Shafiquallah Ghafari, Nyeem Young, and Smit Patel.
