Milton Shumba made a half-century for his first T20I career, making Zimbabwe win the match by six wickets against Scotland. The game took place in Edinburgh. Zimbabwe set 178 targets for the win, which they chased down with five extra deliveries. In chasing their target, they managed to seal three three-match series 2-1.
During the Zimbabwe tour of Scotland 2021, there was a 60-run opening between captain Craig Ervine and Regis Chakabva which begun the chase in the best way. After a few minutes, both the batsmen fell in succession, which made Zimbabwe at 63 for 3 in the 10th over. They needed another 115 runs from only 64 balls.
Shumba and Mathevere were able to stabilize the innings making sure that the scoreboard was ticking. Initially, the duo had struggled to find the boundaries, after which Zimbabwe managed to get five between 10th and 16th overs. After this record, the team started having hopes of reaching the required run rate of 14.
In the 17th over, there was a change in momentum as Zimbabwe’s bowler Alasdair Evans managed to score three consecutive sixes, after which Madhevere added the fourth one. At this time, Scotland managed to take 25 runs off the bowler. They did not get the chance to go any further as Shumba and Madhevere added another 14 runs off Sharif. This means that Zimbabwe only needed 17 from the last two overs to put them ahead.
Later in the match, Madhevere was run out for 43, which ended a fourth-wicket partnership of 99 runs. On the other hand, Shumba was unshaken on his 66, which gave Zimbabwe its win. He managed to strike two fours and six sixes, which was pretty impressive for any batter.
