West Indies beat Pakistan by 1 wicket in the 1st Test 2021

West Indies took the win by one wicket against Pakistan on 12th August in the 2021 Pak vs WI test series. This match was held in Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica, where it was played for four days.

Fast bowler Kemar Roach and the Windies pacer Jayden Seales led the team to win after their 17-run partnership. In this unbeaten combination, Roach recorded 30 and Seales 2, enabling the West Indies to reach 168. They had previously lost 9 wickets while bowling for 203 in the second innings where Seales had taken 5-55.

The West Indies won the toss and were selected to field where the first session was rushed. The second session was at a slightly slower pace which carried the sensation of a build-up intensity. Chase and Jermaine helped the Windies make early runs as they partnered with a 68-run fourth wicket.

Roach recorded the first wicket in the morning, Mayers caught that of Babar Azam, and Seales wrapped up the remaining three wickets. This made the Windies to be named Pakistan vs West Indies 1st Test match-winner.

However, the Pakistan tour of West Indie match was balanced before the tea interval when Jason Holder was out to the last ball. The Windies were 54 runs away from winning at this point as they were on 14-7. They began to knock off the runs gradually, and as time went by, they had 30 runs left to go. In the last session, every wicket and run changed the balance.

Luckily, Roach and Joshua Da Silva made a combination of 28, then Seales, where the West Indies won the match on 168-9. Pakistan found themselves still in the game, and the Windies refused to roll over, making them lose the match. Four years ago, Pakistan had beaten the West Indies, but they gave their sweet revenge in Jamaica.

According to the Captain of the West Indies, Kraigg Brathwaite, the Test was remarkable, and it was all about patience. For Roach, the 30 he recorded was one of the essential innings in his 66 Test Career. Seales, at only 19-year-old, is the youngest West Indian to get a Test match five-wicket haul.

Pakistan had their chance and had battled during the game, but it was during the final session that they lost their trial. In regard to the history of Pakistan’s cricket, this was the best and most renowned Test of all. The catching was sensational until the last session of the Pakistan tour of West Indies 2021 that failed them in the crucial moments.

Pakistan all-rounder, Faheem Ashraf, battled during the game, breaking off the partnership of Chase and Jermaine. However, during the following next overs in Pakistan vs West Indies Test series, Ashraf’s combination got rid of Kyle Mayers’ pair.

The remaining Test matches will also be held indoors at Sabina Park Kingston. To get more updates about the Test matches and your complete sports news, make sure to keep in touch.
