Nepal is all set to take part in the two-game ODI (one-day international) series to be played in Oman against Papua New Guinea. The match that has been scheduled in September is being seen as preparation for the upcoming tri-series game of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2. Nepal team squad will play the first and second matches on September 5 and 8, respectively, as per the CAN (Cricket Association of Nepal). This first game will take place in daylight, while the other is slated to be a day-night match.
At present, Nepal team sits sixth in the table of the League 2 that has seven teams, namely, Oman, the USA, Scotland, Namibia, the UAE and Papua New Guinea. Every team will be participating in 36 ODIs at the time of conclusion of the event in February 2023.
Nepal team players have played four matches so far in the three-year cycle of League 2. They have two losses and two wins in their bag. Oman holds the lead at that table by winning eight matches out of the ten played. Winning six matches out of the twelve played have put the USA at the second position. Papua New Guinea sits at the bottom because they have lost all matches they have played.
This event happens to be the gateway to the upcoming World Cup because the teams in the top three positions will find their place in the qualifiers of the World Cup. Nepal team players are all set to be in the top three.
