Men’s T20 World Cup Team Records & Stats

The International Cricket Council always makes sure they store the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup records. The players’ records, teams’ records, and their stats are made available for anyone interested in following up. The records and stats also help keep tabs on the teams, and know which ones are pushing beyond their limits to become champions. 

The International Cricket Council is the body with the mandate to organize the tournaments. Apart from the ICC Men’s tournaments, the ICC also organizes events such as the World Test series, the Women’s Cricket World Cup, ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, ICC Women’s Champions Trophy, ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, Cricket World Cup, Under-19 Cricket World Cup, and the Cricket World Championships.

The Team Records

Afghanistan has played 14 matches between 2010 and 2016 in which they won 5 games and lost 9. They did not have any ties, and their winning percentage was 35.71%. On the other hand, Australia has played 29 matches from 2007 to 2016, in which they won 16 games and lost 13 games. They have never tied, which leads to their winning percentage being 55.17%.

From 2007 to 2016, Bangladesh and England have played the World Cup, where Bangladesh played 25 matches, winning five and losing 19. They have one match with no result, and their winning percentage is 20.83%. On the other hand, England has played 32 matches, winning 15 and losing 16 with one incident of no result, making their winning percentage 48.38%.

India has been playing from 2007 through 2016 with 33 played games. They have won 20 matches and lost 11. They have had one tie, one incident of no result, and their winning percentage is 64.06%. Ireland has played the World Cup from 2009 to 2016 with 15 matches. They have won 3 games and lost nine with three occasions of no result. Their winning percentage is 25.00%. 

The Netherlands has a winning percentage of 45.45%, with 12 played matches and six losses. On the other hand, New Zealand has a winning percentage of 53. 33% with 30 played games, 15 won, and 13 lost. Oman comes in with a record of three matches played, one win, one loss, and a winning percentage of 50.00%.

Teams Stats

The Sri Lankan Mahela Jayawardene is the player recorded to have the most runs, 1016. He has played 31 matches in 31 innings, with an average of 39.07, and a strike rate of 134.74. Chris Gayle follows him with 920 runs in 28 games, and 26 innings. His average is at 40.00 and he has a strike rate of 146.73. In the third position, there is TM Dilshan from Sri Lanka. He has 897 runs and has played 35 matches and 34 innings. His average is 30.93, with a strike rate of 124.06.

Virat Kholi from the Indian team comes in at the fifth position with 16 played matches and 16 innings. He has 7 Not Outs, 777 runs, an average of 86. 33, and a strike rate of 133.04. He is also the batsman with the highest number of records in the tournament.
