Things are not looking suitable for the Australian Cricket Team after being hammered by Bangladesh and West Indies. The Aussies have lost 4 out of the five games against West Indies and Bangladesh within the T20 Series. The Delhi Capitals coach and former Australian skipper, Ricky Ponting, was disappointed by the team’s performance. He delivered a blunt message towards the Aussies where he stated, “If you wish to perform well at the 2021 T20 World Cup, participate in IPL ”.
Ponting was not impressed with the past performance of the Australian team. According to him, the Aussies can get their groove back if they participate in the world’s most popular T20 league, the IPL. Doing so will allow them to stay in form and improve all the areas where they are lacking.
During an interview, Ponting said: “These guys haven’t played for 3 to 4 months properly. If they wish to return, they need to participate in high-quality cricket against all the finest players across the groove. That way, they can perform exceptionally well during the 2021 T20 World Cup. But when I say high-quality cricket, I am talking about the Indian Premier League.”
The IPL 2021 Schedule for the UAE leg has already been released, and many of the teams have already departed from India towards the desert country. All the remaining matches will occur during the IPL 2021 season as it was postponed in India after the 2nd wave of COVID-19 hit the country.
Ricky Ponting’s blunt statement is filled with concerns and encouragement. After facing defeat against the two heavyweights of cricket, Australia needs to improve their form if they wish to do well in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
