The Delhi Capitals team was a formidable opponent in the early seasons of the tournament. The team, formerly known as the Delhi Daredevils team, was led by Virender Sehwag. The team was renamed Delhi Capitals just before the 2019 season. International players like Daniel Vettori and Ab De Villiers were associated with the team. But the team never tasted victory. Moreover, the team has also been one of the inconsistent teams in the history of IPL. 

Gautam Gambhir’s Captaincy

In 2018, the team was captained by Gautam Gambhir. The player has successfully led his previous franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, to victory in 2012 and 2014.
