An incredible performance from the Indian seamers helped the team beat the hosts by 151 runs. England was bowled all out at 120 runs in 51.5 overs while the actual target was 272. The England skipper Joe Root was the top scorer with 33 runs. The match featured verbal clashes between the players of the two teams. India is currently in the lead with a historic win in the second match of the India vs England Test Series 2021.
India vs England 2nd Test began with England feeling quite confident. The early wicket of Rishabh Pant gave high hopes to the hosts. But team India transformed the match to their side with both the bat and the ball. The unbeaten 89 run partnership of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami helped the guests set a target of 272 runs. Later they both struck to remove openers, Dom Sibley and Rory Burns. Jonny Bairstow also fell before tea, thanks to Haseeb Hameed.
Bumrah took yet another wicket in the form of Joe Root. Joss Buttler and Moeen Ali began the resistance, but Mohammad Siraj came to rescue by taking down Ali and Sam Curran in two consecutive deliveries. Butler and Ollie kept storming and were almost about to tilt the game in England’s favour. Bumrah got another breakthrough in the form of Robinson. But it was Mohammad Siraj who got Buttler, and two deliveries later wrapped up the game with James Anderson’s wicket.
