James Is Trinidad And Tobago’s CPL Selection
Shamfa Cudjoe, the minister of sports, took to Facebook to congratulate Joshua James on his successful selection to join the Jamaica Tallawahs for the Hero 2021 Caribbean Premier League. Born in Tobago, James is a right-arm medium pacer who represents the West Indies in the 2020 U19 at the ICC World Cup held in South Africa. The 20-year-old is also a right-handed batsman.
The minister of sports went on to urge everyone to join her in congratulating her constituent, Mr. Joshua James, on his achievement of being the 1st Tobagonian to join the Jamaica Tallawahs squad for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
She then went on to add that, in 2019, James also became the 1st Tobagonian to compete in the prestigious ICC under-19 World Cup. The batting all-rounder is currently competing in the United Kingdom with Evenwood Cricket Club in the Durham Cricket League for year 2021.
During the 2020 U-19 World Cup tournament, James was able to take five wickets at 32.00, and he scored 83 runs at 41.50 in the six matches. The renowned champion also took 2/25 against South Africa, and he managed to score 43 against Nigeria during the U-19 West Indies campaign.
Jamaica Tallawahs have won the Caribbean Premier League championships twice, that is in 2013 and 2016. They are hoping to return home with the 2021 Caribbean Premier League using James’ selection in CPL 2021 as an advantage. Other players like Russell and the all-rounder Bangladesh Shakib Al Hasan will also add some impact on their squad.
The Jamaica Tallawahs in CPL 2021 are hoping for some big show as their player Chadwick Walton is guaranteed to put on some force at the top. With a captain like Russell, they are sure of his lethal best moves. Another advantage the Jamaica Tallawahs will have is the techniques of the sharp left-arm spin of Shakib.
The squad that Joshua James will be playing with includes; Ryan Persaud. Andre Russell, Kirk McKenzie, Shakib Al Hasan, Abhijai Mansingh. Carlos Brathwaite. Veerasammy, Rovman Powell, Ibrahim Zadran, Haider Ali, Kennar Lewis, Chadwick Walton, Miguel Pretorius, Fidel Edwards, Jason Mohammad, and Qais Ahmed.
