With the ongoing 8th season of the Caribbean Premier League from August 18th, 2020, in Trinidad, the top performers have the eyes of most audiences. The tournament is already more than halfway, and there have been terrific performances in all departments. The success of the matches has mainly depended on what the participants have brought to the table.
Here we will see the top five CPL best performers who have continued to have the most runs, catches, wickets, and sixes in their scores.
Hayden Walsh was among the players who have contributed most to the Barbados tridents‘ CPL best performance. After registering the highest score, he received the Player of the Tournament award, thereby being the leading wicket-taker of that season. His scores were 22 wickets from 9 matches, and this lifted his team to acquire the trophy. Additionally, he is the only participant to have a five-wicket haul in the season. It’s no doubt that the 27-year-old was the best in the season, and it’s most likely he will have a great future.
According to many, Brandon King is one of the consistent batsmen, especially in the previous season. King registered 496 runs from 12 matches and was labeled as the highest run-scorer in that season. Because of his best performance, he was able to keep the Warriors team unbeaten in that league. During the match against the Barbados Tridents, he scored 132 runs from 72 balls and a strike rate of 183.33.
Even after being a replacement of Colin Munro and not featuring in the first initial squad of the TKR, his performance was encouraging. He continued to play as a top-order batsman even after Munro came back into the game. He finished the match as the team’s best run-scorer. As a result, he was able to carry the team to the playoffs with 430 runs from 11 matches. This made him be on the list of the CPL 2020 best performers.
In the previous league, Johnson Charles played a significant role in the Barbados Tridents. Johnson was the third leading run-scorer with 415 runs from 13 matches. Additionally, he was the best four-hitter of the tournament, with 45 boundaries in the 13 games. But the most exciting thing about Charles is that he registered all that with just three fifties and without a single century to his name.
Just as Charles, Imran Tahir was a replacement and was not in the initial squad. He came in as the replacement of Shadab Khan, who left the league to fulfill other commitments. With Proteas having a disastrous World Cup appearance, all eyes were on him. Even though the Warriors lost in the games, he was able to shine all through the season. He took 16 wickets in only nine matches and held the best economy (5.63) of the season.
