  • IPL: 166 Matches) Here he hit 3795 runs, an average of 29.6, and a scoring rate of 128.7.

Career Information

Ambati had a passion for cricket from an early age. He started training in 2001, which led him to be known as India’s battling savior for the upcoming matches. This happened in India’s under-19s when he was assigned to assist in a one-day role in England. The bold stroke maker, Ambati Rayudu, made an unbeaten 177 at the start of the match. From his compact cricketing technique, he displayed his prowess at the Ranji Trophy season.

This included a double-century and a hundred for Hyderabad in the exact match against Andhra Pradesh. Later, he switched to Andhra after having issues with Rajesh Yadav, the former team’s coach. In 2004, Rayudu furthered his reputation leading India Under-19s to the semi-final of the World Cup in Bangladesh. After a disappointing season with the bat, he managed 155 runs at 11.92 in the Ranji Trophy. His twins and turns went further when he decided to return to Hyderabad. 

However, he again got into trouble with the Umpires. This almost made his career end, but he got an opportunity in the Indian Cricket League, which exposed him to foreign stars and more opportunities. Luckily, Ambati Rayudu got more chances when he was given an offer by BCCI’s to be stared in the IPL. The better part is that he did not let the team down because he made 356 runs in the 2010 IPL. 

For this reason, he was re-signed for the 2011 season and made 395 runs, and became the team’s highest scorer. His career later proceeded in a low-profile ODI held in Zimbabwe, 2013, where he was handed his India debut. In 2014, Ambati Rayudu became the 4th oldest Indian to make a maiden ODI ton with 121 off 118 balls against Sri Lanka held in Ahmedabad.

But, unfortunately, he did not participate in any game in the 2015 World Cup despite being part of the squad. The following year, though, he was also not part of India’s World T20 squad. In 2019, he decided to quit his career after being replaced and termed a lack of opportunities.

In 2013, Ambati Rayudu played for India, and the match was held in Zimbabwe. His last debut was in 2019, still in Zimbabwe

He played for India in 2010, and the match was held in Brabourne Stadium. His last debut in this category was in 2016 and held in South Africa.

Ambati Played made his debut in 2010 while playing for Mumbai Indians in Brabourne Stadium. His last debut was in 2014 in the United Arab Emirates, but this time he played for Chennai Super Kings.

Career Achievement

The versatile player Ambati Rayudu started his cricket journey at a young age. In 2001, he started training at the National Cricket Academy. His cricketing technique has earned him trust and chances to play for other teams. His success started in 2001 and 2002 when he scored a century and double century in a match against Andhra Pradesh.

In under-19, he made 177 runs which was a win for the team as they got 305. He also performed well in Indian T20 League as he played for Mumbai. When he was signed in Mumbai, he made his debut in the ODI series in 2013. In 2015, he was the first Indian to score a maiden ODI century. This made Chennai select him in the auction for the Indian T20 2018 League.

Additionally, it also opened numerous opportunities because he started getting many chances in the national colors and performed outstanding results in India. However, Ambati Rayudu decided to retire from all forms of international cricket during the 2019 World Cup. This was because he was ignored in favor of Rishabh Pant and Mayank Agarwal when some players got injured.
