2021 BNP Paribas Open is Scheduled for 4-17 October

This will be the first-ever fall edition of the BNP Paribas Open. The event is governed by some rules and regulations that must be followed by everyone attending. For example, everyone planning to attend the event must have proof of vaccination for them to enter the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The tournament will be featuring 96 player singles draws, 32 team doubles draw, and 32 player singles qualifying draws.

After the tournament, the winners of the women’s players and the men’s players will have the chance to compete for the title. The prize available to be won is $15.3 million. This event will mark the most combination of WTA and ATP tournament size since Covid-19 struck.

 The tournament director commented that the BNP Paribas Open would be the one event that anyone cannot miss for anything. The fans have been on edge waiting for the event, and the main aim of the tournament is to deliver the most epic performances. 

Vaccination Requirement

The proof of vaccination of everyone entering the garden is a safety precaution that the tournament organizers have come up with to ensure that everyone is safe. There will be additional safety precautions like wearing masks and additional testing. The Riverside County health department and the state of California will be in charge to ensure that everyone follows these directives.

The BNP Paribas Open will not accept physical vaccination cards. Therefore, to ensure you are on the safe side, get one on your phone by following these steps; 

  • Download the app CLEAR from your App store
  • Fill in the vaccination and the vaccine information and then upload
  • Have your phone ready with you when you arrive at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden entrance

For the players, their safety guidelines are governed by the protocols established by their respective bodies in charge, the ATP and WTA Tours. A team at the Indian Well tennis garden is continually discussing with the committee of advisors and experts. The team is headed by the Professor of Medicine and Biomedical Engineering, Dr. David Agus. He works at the University of Southern California.

Players to look out for

Daniil Medvedev, the U.S Open Champion, is the highest-ranked player who will be playing. He will be accompanied by Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas, winners of the Tokyo gold medal. The defending BNP Paribas Open champion Aryana Sabalenka, Elina Svitolina, Karolina Pliskova, and Bianca Andreescu will be rounding up the Women’s field.

However, there are other big names of renowned tennis players who will not be playing in the tournament. The players are; Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Ash Barty, Naomi Osaka, and Soia Kenin.
