West Indies vs Pakistan Test Match: Windies clinch one-wicket win in 1st Test as visitors

West Indies managed to gain a one-wicket victory on Sunday and are currently in the lead of the two-match test series at Sabina Park. Shahid Shah Afridi was leading the attack with four wickets at 50 runs. The Pak vs WI 1st Test Match began with the guest side giving a hard time to the hosts. The host side had only three wickets to spare at tea. But the Pakistanis eventually failed to maintain composure in the field. It was, in fact, the lack of discipline of the Pakistanis that helped the host country win. 

The Pakistan tour of the West Indies reminded fans of the Antigua Test Series in 2000. The Pakistanis missed three catches that enabled Kemar Roach and Jayden Seales to reach their target. Hasan Ali missed a straightforward catch which led Roach to finish off unbeaten at 30. Seales scored a couple of runs alongside Roach. But his remarkable deed of taking eight wickets earned him the Man of the match title.

The Pakistani captain pointed out that this is the beauty of test cricket. According to him, the Pakistanis could not maintain their momentum in the second innings. They took a few catches but dropped two vital ones at the end.

Kraig Brathwaite

He agreed that the first test of Pakistan vs West Indies Test Series 2021 has been remarkable. He praised the bowling of the Pakistanis. But he pointed out that the pitch required patience from the batsmen. Eventually, the ones who could keep their nerves calm in the face of intense pressure emerged victorious.
