Nepal vs Papua New Guinea: Schedule of ODI Series

The two not so common teams in the world of cricket are battling against each other in the two-match ODI series. These teams are Nepal and Papua New Guinea. This ODI series is taking place in the country of Oman. The first match or first ODI took place on 07th September 2021. In this match, Nepal won by two wickets. The matches are being played at Al Amerat Cricket Ground, located in the Al Amerat city in Oman. 

It’s worth mentioning that the match was scheduled to be played on 05th September, but it was then rescheduled to 07th September. The second or the final match will be played on 10th September. In the first match, we witnessed spectacular performances.

In Nepal vs Papua New Guinea’s first ODI match, Sandeep Lamichhane was awarded the Man of the Match trophy. He took four wickets of the opponent team. The highest runs from the Nepal team’s side were 41, which Rohit Poudel scored. Papua New Guinea or PNG won the toss and opted to bat first. In just 33 overs, the PNG team was all out. 

The players of the Papua New Guinea team managed to score 134. While chasing the target of 135, every batter from the Nepal team tried their best. The 46-run opening partnership between Kushal Bhurtel and Ashif Sheikh contributed significantly to achieving the target. 

While being in Oman, Papua New Guinea will also compete against the United States team. From their two-match ODI series, PNG has already lost in the first match, which took place on 06th September 2021. The second match will be held on 09th September. 

It’s interesting to note that Nepal and PNG have competed with one another four times till now. This is the first time ever that Nepal has won against Papua New Guinea.
