Mohammed Shami is Indian’s known reverse swing and the best right-arm fast bowler. Shami has struggled to make a name for himself over the years. However, his tough grinds led him to represent Bengal during the Ranji Trophy. After the tournament, he maintained his pace and became a star. His domestic performance has been rather excellent, and also after he made his debut against Pakistan. In 2013 after his debut, he became a regular player in the Indian pace attack in both the ODIs and the Test series.
ODIs
In the ODI series, Shami played 79 matches and had 38 innings, scoring 161 runs. He has an average of 7.66 and a strike rate of 82.98. In bowling, he has made 78 innings with 674 overs scoring 3793 runs. In addition, he picked 148 wickets at an average of 25.63.
Test
Shami has played 54 matches in the Test format and has 73 innings, scoring 590 runs out of 764 balls. His batting average is 11.57 and has a strike rate of 77.25, scoring two half-centuries,61 fours, and 21 sixes. In bowling, he has 102 innings out of 9801 balls scoring 5376 runs. He picked 195 wickets and has a BBI of 6/56, an economy rate of 3.29 at an average of 21.57, and 50.26 as strike rate.
T20
Shami has played 109 matches and has 29 innings scoring 81 runs out of 87 balls. He has a batting average of 5.78 and a strike rate of 93.10. In bowling, he has 109 innings and 386.4 overs, scoring 3227 runs. In addition, he has taken 125 wickets, and his bowling average is 25.81.
Domestic Career
Mohammed started playing cricket at 15 years old, with his coach, then Badruddin Siddique. He tried hard, but he did not make it to the Uttar Pradesh U-19 team, but he enrolled with the Kolkata Knight Riders. However, his performance was improving quite fast, and within no time, he was becoming the team’s favorite. His first-class debut was in 2010 against Assam when he picked three wickets.
IPL Career
He first played the IPL during the 2014 season with Delhi Daredevils, and he also played the 2015 season. Shamis’s contract with the daredevils got renewed in 2018, and in the following IPL season, he was bought by Kings Xi Punjab. He was the highest wicketkeeper for the team at the time.
In 2013, he was selected by India national Cricket Team for the ODI series against Pakistan. He managed to pick 11 wickets in a match against New Zealand.
