The well-known IPL team, Rajasthan Royals owners, have bought a majority stake in the most famous Caribbean Premier League team, Barbados Trident. Rajasthan Royals becomes the 3rd IPL franchise after Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders to be associated with the tournament of CPL.
The owners of the Rajasthan Royals, Royals Sports Group, under EM Sporting Holdings Ltd, made the announcement at a press conference this Friday.
Barbados Trident, a 2-times champion of the CPL Title, will be renamed Barbados Royals. Manoj Badale, the lead owner of Rajasthan Royals and chairperson of Royals Sports Group, said: “We are more than happy to sign this deal with Mr Manish Patel for acquiring the majority of stake in one of the best Caribbean Premier League teams, Barbados.”
“We are filled with immense gratitude to the Government of Barbados for showing their constant support, and we aim to make a positive, bold and great impact on both aspects for the country: cricket and tourism,” Manoj added to the comments.
The progress of the Barbados Franchise will be monitored by the Director of Cricket of Rajasthan Royals, Kumar Sangakkara.
He shared some fascinating words with the media. “Barbados Royals will be a crucial part of the Rajasthan Royals family. With an excellent team of local players, we have the chance to develop great tactics and strategies to benefit our Royals Group. We are also excited about the way we will prosper in this game of cricket.”
Senator Lisa Cummins, Barbados Minister of Tourism and International Transport, said: “The Caribbean and Barbados have been recognised for their cricketing prowess for a long time, which has helped us to grow in the field of sports tourism.”
The Caribbean Premier League team in 2021, Barbados Royals, led by Jason Holder, is all set to clash the opponent teams in forthcoming CPL 2021 schedule.
