Barbados Royals v Guyana Amazon Warriors, the match which was the 20th match in the CPL (Caribbean Premier League) 2021, turned out to be a spectacular show for cricket lovers. After giving a target of 186 to the Guyana Amazon Warriors team, the Barbados Royals team won by 45 runs.
However, still after winning the game, Barbados Royals are at the bottom position (6th) in the rankings. The reason behind this is that they had lost five games prior to this game. From 7 matches played till now, they have managed to win only 2. Nonetheless, their efforts in this match must be applauded.
Despite losing the toss, they kept their spirits high. The players in their team did a great job in batting, bowling, and fielding. They showed true teamwork in this game. The top three batsmen Kyle Mayers, Johnson Charles, and Glenn Philips, scored 36, 40, and 44 runs respectively. By the end of their batting, Barbados Royals scored a total of 185 by losing 8 wickets.
On the other hand, Guyana Amazon Warriors showed not-so-good batting at the beginning itself. The top three of the four players in the batting order lost their wicket in the powerplay. Though every batsman tried hard to chase the score, the victory fell from their hands. The team was all out in 17.2 overs with a total score of 140 runs.
With this win, Barbados Royals can hope to reach the semi-final. Through this match, they proved their competence and fighting spirit. With batsmen scoring runs and bowlers taking wickets seamlessly, they can expect to move up the points table.
The Barbados Royals team must win their next three games, which would be their last three games in the tournament as per CPL 2021 schedule. In these matches, they have to face Trinbago Knight Riders once and Saint Lucia Kings twice. Guyana Amazon Warriors, who are currently at the 4th position in the points table, have to play two more matches in the tournament. Both the games will be played against Jamaica Tallawahs.
