Australia Names An Extended Squad

Stars Come Back The Caribbean Tour

Australian stars have managed to come back home ahead of the naming of the squad that is heading for the Caribbean tour. The extended squad has been named to accommodate the eight players who missed the last white-ball campaign. The 23 member team is a great bonus for Australia as they plan to build up the T20 World Cup team.

The extended squad is a big help for the selectors as it gives them the base to choose the final touring squad. On the other hand, the preliminary list also gives the players enough time to prepare themselves.

The T20 squad can match any team in the upcoming Australia matches. This is what the selectors are looking for.

The Australian tour of the West Indies will be a great boost for the extended squad as they will get the chance to play the reigning world champions. It will be a life-changing opportunity for the Australians, as the West Indies are two times winners of the six ICC T20 World Cup. Therefore, it is the best preparation for the 2021 October and November edition preparations.

The tour comes ahead of Aus. Vs. WI 2021 T20 series, which then will be followed by the ODI series. It may be just a tour, but Australia is missing their best players like Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, and David Warner. However, the missing players are not a threat for the Australian team, as they might still make life unbearable for the West Indies.

The national selectors are optimistic that the players will be consistent in their performance, especially with the World Cup. However, players like Marnus would give anything to play for Australia, but he had to remain in the UK due to certain circumstances. On the other hand, Swepson’s inclusion gives Australia an added advantage for four spin bowling options.

Swepson’s good performance cuts across the three forms of the game. Additionally, Dan Christian will be making his first return to the team since 2017. The tour will give the 38-year-old a chance to prove he can carry his domestic tactics into the international game.

Conclusively, after the New Zealand series, Australia still has many powerhouses to beat the West Indies at their game. However, the selectors have a tough time making their selections as all of Australia’s best players don’t want to miss the tour. The competition for top-order batters is stiff.
