Shardul Thakur Likely To Be Absent From The Test Against England At Lords

Team India received another setback due to Shardul Thakur’s injury. He suffered a hamstring injury. He is most likely to miss the second test against England. This India tour of England has been full of setbacks, with Shubhman Gill, Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar already being injured. Thakur has bowled only thirteen overs in the second innings of the first test. This is the lowest out of all the other four pacers in the team. But in the first innings, the 29-year old Palghar born player took four wickets in the first test.

Possible Changes In The Indian Team

Shardul Thakur’s injury will bring about a series of changes in the Indian team. Virat Kohli stated that the team would follow the four pacers and one spinner combination. This is how the team was arranged in the first test. But Thakur’s injury might make the skipper introduce some new combinations in the team. Ravichandran Ashwin seems to be a tempting option as the second spinner in the team. The off-spinner was expected to play in the first test, especially after his five-wicket haul in the county championship.

Ending Note

England has always been under pressure after Stuart Broad sustained injuries in his right calf. He was unable to train with the rest of the England team. But some reports suggested that Broad also suffered an ankle injury while warming up during a practice session. The first test in India vs England Test Series 2021 ended with the match in a draw even though India started well. Stay tuned with us for more sports news and all matches updates.
