It’s been around fifteen years since India defeated England in 2007. The Indian squad, captained by Rahul Dravid, won the three-match series against England 1–0. With India vs England test match commencing in a few days, Rahul Dravid predicts India will win the five-match series 3-2. Overall, he expects the series to be “difficult” and a “wonderful series to watch.”
“I truly believe India has a solid chance this time,” Dravid stated about the test series during a Live Aid India fund-raising webinar for the Navjyoti India Foundation Trust.
He also added that the UK would pick and select from many good players, which will be fantastic. Ben Stokes is a terrific allrounder, but Ashwin tends to have a lot of success against him. And that should be a fun competition. “I know he did well against Stokes in India, but it’ll be a fascinating ‘sub plot’ to the tournament.”
“But I believe India will be well-prepared, having defeated Australia, and have a lot of faith in the players. We have a few players who have gone to England before, and the batting lineup this time around has a lot of experience, so this is our best opportunity, maybe 3-2 to India.”
“I anticipate that India will perform well in England this time,” Dravid said. “This is a fantastic chance for us.” They’ll spend a month in England following the WTC final before the India vs England Test Series 2021 begins. “I don’t believe any side has had as much time to prepare for a Test series as India will have, so that will undoubtedly be a significant advantage.”
Dravid’s prediction of India’s performance was based on the Test team’s scheduling and the amount of time they would have to acclimate to the conditions. They are likely to play intrasquadw games in the lead-up to the first Test in Nottingham on August 4 after the World Test Championship.
After having given his prediction, The Batting Wall also gave his advice saying, “It’s a question of being able to focus throughout the innings and recognising that even if you’re set, you still need to form a partnership. Things may change rapidly, so once you’re set, preserve your wicket, play one ball at a time, and aim to push the game to the next level. We’ll be formidable if we put runs on the board.”
India has named a 20-man team for the tour, including four bench players, and Dravid believes the squad’s makeup indicates that the management already knows who their strongest XI is. Because England will be cautious of preparing tracks that aid seam bowlers too much, given India’s potent pace attack, Dravid believes that playing both Ashwin and Jadeja in the same team could be a valid option for India vs England 2021.
