The Swami Vivekanand International School are a happy lot after clinching a crucial win in their U-16 match against Happy boys. Choosing to bat first, SVIS got off to a good start as Krish Kanavade seemed to be in good form as he timed the ball perfectly. The perfect start continued for 26 runs until Parth Shah drew first blood and brought the run to a halt. He removed Pranay Kapadia and Darshan Maru plus another opener to have the Swami Vivekanand International School squad at 31 for 2.
As things were looking tough for SVIS, the middle-order batters refused to take this loss and decided to do something about it. Aaditya Naik and Rudra Tank brought the momentum back to the innings with a quickfire partnership to set the pace before Aadesh Rane finished the innings on a high note. Aadesh magnificently played a quickfire knock of 40 runs off 22 deliveries, including 3 boundaries and 2 towering sixes. This awesome display of the game propelled Swami Vivekananda International School to 145 runs at 20 overs.
However, the Happy boys weren’t taking things lying down. Chasing a challenging total, they made a strong start with 26 runs in 2.5 overs before Parth Shah came onto the field. He and Shreyansh Hirlekar played well and managed to add another 26 runs for the 2nd wicket as they tried desperately to take the lead. However, the good run Parth and Hirlerkar brought ended as soon as Parth walked out of the field. His team started losing wickets regularly and only made it to 120 runs at 20 overs.
The difference of 25 runs is what gave SVIS this crucial win, and they could not hide their excitement. Aadesh was deemed the man of the match for his all-round performance in CPL 2021 U-16 match. This is because he scored 22-ball 40 runs and returned with figures of 2 for 16 from his 4 overs. Medhankar Lavesh was selected as the top bowler after returning with 3 wickets, while Rudra Tank and Aadesh Rane chipped in with 2 wickets each to seal the win for Swami Vivekanand International School. Truly this SVIS win was only achieved as Aadesh Rane’s run was backed by bowlers such as Lavesh.
